There's still a lot to do, but I see it all coming together very smoothly, and just know that everyone is going to have such a wonderful time at our wedding! I'm so excited to host such an important event for us, and can't wait to share it with so many friends and family!

But really more than anything, I can't wait to be Michael's wife. I just love him so much and am so excited about the life we have in front of us!!!

I'd better get some shut-eye! Hope all is well! Sorry I rarely post anymore. We'll see if I get back into it. If anyone's on twitter, you can follow me there -- @springfan. I seem to tweet a lot more than I status update on FB or post on here. I chalk it up to our quick-fix MTV generation society!
font-weight: bold;">Got back from my first game at Citi Field today and had such a wonderful time! Eric went with me to the game and we spent a few hours before gametime exploring the new stadium. We walked around, checking out all the stores (well, I did that part...) and all the food (we did this together!), and really loved what we saw! Our seats were good. The Promenade level has a real "upper deck" feel without being as far away. I don't love that, but for the price it's right!

Santana pitched wonderfully, and it was a great pitcher's duel! The Mets won 1-0, so I'm happy to say I'm 1-0 lifetime at CitiField!!

I went out with my mom after the game and we got her a mother of the bride dress, which is very exciting! We're both extremely pleased because we had so much luck getting the dress for a reasonable price and in a size that can easily be altered to fit her very well! Hooray! Another big huge check on the planning list!

While I was at the store (we went to "My Daughter's Wedding II" in Great Neck), I looked at some garters just for fun and because I think I want one and I noticed they were all about $25 - $30. Didn't love any of them but I remember something I saw online so I figured I'd look around a little...

I found this, which I thought was PERFECT, and I ordered it! If I'm going to use a garter at all, can you imagine anything better for me? font-weight: bold;">Life is good. I'm planning the wedding and trying not to get too
stressed. It's a very fun and exciting project, and I'm looking
forward to moving in with Michael after.

I have a lot to do
today, so I'm keeping this short. It's Saturday and I was off
yesterday to take care of a million things that had to be done during
the work week (eye doctor, ring sizing) but I'm working tonight.
Tomorrow is Evan's 30th bday celebration out in Manhasset so I'll be
back by North Shore to visit my grandmother. She's doing ok
health-wise but not so well mind-wise. She doesn't seem very
frustrated, though, for what that's worth, despite having no idea
what's actually going on in the world or her own life right now. She
seems to have retreated to a place that's happier for her and thinks
things that happened years ago just happened the other day. No harm,
no foul, I say.

I need to get my dress altered, but I'm going to
wait until fashion week is over (I didn't even know it was going on) to
call a friend of Iris' about a seamstress for the alterations. I need
to go to the gym even more than I have been (which is about once a
week). And, of course, as always, I need to clean my apartment. And
get rid of things. As much as I've already gotten rid of, somehow it
seems even more cluttered than ever. I don't know how that happens.

I'm
just putting off getting the laundry done, so I'm going to stop
blabbing and get to it. Maybe I'll even start updating my blog again.
But don't hold your breath. :)

Saturday, January 03, 2009

Happy New Year to you!!! I've been in NC for the past two weeks, just about, and I've had the most wonderful time here yet! :) Michael and I spent a lot of time with his family, which was very nice, and together here at the apartment, as well as with friends. All in all, it was a great break from work, and a wonderful way to end the year. I'm sad to be leaving tomorrow, but I know we have a lot of exciting things planned for the upcoming year. 2009 is going to be the best year yet! :)

I also managed to snag a few really sweet deals for flights in the upcoming months. Michael got a round trip to NY for a total of $94 round trip. Somehow, American was flying $36 each way before taxes between LGA and RDU. We snagged him one flight and I grabbed another for the long weekend I have in February (which happens to also coincide with valentine's day!!). :) That's such a big difference from what it usually costs, and looking today, I couldn't find anything near that price. Lucky us!

I post most of my pictures now a days on facebook, which is why I rarely update my blog. I recently posted a bunch of old pictures from class photos and other random shots I thought I'd scan in. I moved a whole lot of photo albums down to NC, and Michael was sweet enough to set up the scanner for me. :) It was fun reminiscing a bit.

Hope you had a great end of 2008, and that 2009 brings everything you hoped and dreamed. :) I know I can't wait to see what the future holds! Happy New Year!

Friday, October 10, 2008

So I got a new bike yesterday! (Which you would know if you're my friend on facebook because I had it in my status the past day or so.) I'm very excited about it and it's already been a lot of fun (and not easy, either!). :)

I rode around a bit yesterday, but nothing really big -- just very locally. Today I decided to put myself to the test and ride all the way across town to the mall. My butt's a bit sore, but I think that comes with the territory. Here's the route I took to and from the mall:

I'm not sure if this map I just cut and pasted from google is going to work on here, but basically what I did was take a pretty direct (3.8 miles) route to the mall, and then take my time coming back (over 5 miles). I knew I was going to have it rough at the end because it was totally down-hill on the way there... and of course completely uphill at the end coming back! I just kept plugging away, and made it home. :) It started raining when I had a little over a mile left to go, but I didn't really mind. I stopped off at a bike store near the mall and got a small rearview mirror, which actually made me feel a lot more secure on the bike.

If my butt can get used to the pressure, I really think the rest of me could benefit from the extra cardio! :) It's pretty fun riding. Now I just have to try to drag Michael out some time to ride with me. (First I tried riding his bike, but it made me way too nervous, even when I lowered the seat a bit.)

Oooh, Michael's leaving work so it's time to start prepping dinner! Hope you all have a wonderful weekend!

Sunday, September 28, 2008

I'm watching the Shea Stadium closing ceremonies and every time I think I have it together, I lose it. My eyes are sore with tears and my throat is all choked up. I love Shea Stadium.

I know this isn't the end by any means of my love affair with the Mets, but I'm still sad that Shea is closing. I feel lucky to have spent as much time there as I have. To have seen as much as I did there. To have lived as much as I lived there.

I'm happy how much of my life I've spent enjoying baseball. I mourn the end of every season as if spring will never come. But I know it will. I've posted a zillion times about why I love baseball and how much it means to be such a part of something so much bigger than I am. Watching people in the stands crying and saying goodbye, I know exactly what they are feeling because I feel it too.

I'll post some pictures soon from yesterday's amazing day at Shea with Michael. I'm so glad I planned ahead to make sure I had that for myself.

For now... to the future... Goodbye, Shea. Thank you for so many wonderful memories.

*edit*

Here are some pictures Michael took:

Wednesday, September 03, 2008

So I'm super duper behind in posting. What can I say? It's been the summer. :)

Things are good.

That movie "Burn After Reading" actually looks very good. I was just watching the Mets game and saw a commercial for it, which is why I mention it. Who knows if I'll actually go see the movie, but maybe. :)

I've been to lots of Mets games, spend a good amount of time with Michael, both in NC and in New Orleans (which was great). My dad was pretty sick but is finally recovering (for the most part) which is very encouraging. Work has been good, but busy, although while I was running back and forth to LI to see my dad, work was just calm enough to make it all possible. Oh, and my car broke down with some major internal damage so I've been carless for a few weeks, which has been a pain in the butt, but my brother has been super about helping out!

So there's my quick update. :) GO METS! I'll try to post more soon. :) BTW: I'm full of smiles, if you couldn't tell.

Sunday, July 13, 2008

8 in a row!!!! That's crazy!!! :)

So, I got mets tickets for today's 4 pm game at shea before the season even started. I had been really excited back when tickets first went on sale and bought tickets to 6 different Saturday games, thinking Michael and I would be able to go on Saturdays and work our schedules around it. That, of course, was before everything changed. Now, Michael's moving to NC, and my whole world has done a sudden (although exciting!) flip-flop. But we're both making the best of things. Right now he's down in NC with his parents camping/hiking for the weekend. I can't wait to see all his pictures and hear his stories about the weekend! :)

I told my dad about the game, and for the first time in months, he actually felt good enough to go and spend a day out with me. We had a wonderful time! The seats were Loge back row (which means cheapest seats in the place, but really low down for the price!). We ended up sitting in the second-to-last row, so we could see everything except the diamond vision and the the score board. The game was clear as day, and we were just about around the first base line.

Here are some pictures he took:

Tomorrow I'm meeting up with Michele for brunch. I'm happy I get to spend time with friends, but I really miss Michael. I guess that's natural. He should be coming back up here on Monday or Tuesday. Yay! :)

I moved my car for the first time in 3 weeks today. Alternate side parking picks up again on Monday, so I needed to move it anyway. I'm parked in a Thursday spot... I hope I can figure out a good strategy on moving the car again. :)

Wednesday, July 02, 2008

I just saw the greatest commercial EVER on SNY. It was so good, I had to rewind it and play it again.

I'll see if I can find it on youtube to share, but I'll describe it for now:

It's all in the style of an old-time movie. It's in pseudo black and white, and scratchy, with an organ version of the Entertainer (which happens to be my ring tone, if you were wondering) playing in the background.

The first shot is of Reyes beating out a bunt for a base hit. It shows the Arizona pitcher shaking his head in disbelief, and then cuts to the word "Really?" on a card like they used to do before movies had sound.

The next shot is Beltran and his third strike where he got tossed out of the game last week by the crazy ump that also bumped Manuel, and the words "Oh, come on!" pop up on the card.

Finally, it's Delgado's home-run-turned-foul-ball shot at Yankee stadium that you clearly see hit off the foul pole in fair territory and then you see the umps conferring then indicating a foul. The card cuts to "Umpires don't see in HD..." and then you get a quick clip of Jerry Manuel in that ump's face from the second incident, fingers pointing, neck vein bulging, and the card cuts to "But you can..."

Then it breaks up and gets clear and perfect and advertises that every game is shown in HD on SNY HD.

Perhaps my description isn't great, but the commercial had me cracking up. So much that I'm actually blogging about it! :)

I couldn't find the clip anywhere, but look for it when you're watching mets games. GO METS!
